so it is coming to my attention that if we hotel up for wiscon, which I am bound and determined to do, dammit, I will be blowing our vacation fund on the hotel, and robbing the kids of their annual trip to the dells. And it seems like I should feel bad enough that I'd cancel our reservation for the con, but I apparently don't feel quite that bad.
But with the shit with z's mom, we're shorter than we thought we'd be because he hasn't been able to flip any cars yet this year, and hell, he could use the wiscon money to flip a car and finance our dells vacation. But GODDAMN IT the con is the highlight of my fucking year, and the hotel is going to make it so much even better. I've figured out the cheapest time to do our dells trip, even, and it's the week following the con. which would make it one big vacation split in two parts, which has it's good and bad points.
and I have to keep in mind not just the hotel costs, but vacation fooding, both downtown and at the dells, can easily cost me more than the dells hotel does, anyway.
I'm totally just gonna sell z's dirty socks on ebay. that'll cover it, right?

Also, you are welcome to come during residents week (it is the first week after school closes) and come with me to some of the low-cost events. We can do a duck ride for free and the waterparks are lower cost (it used to be $3 for the Riverside Park, not sure what it will be this year; Noah's Ark is supposed to be free the same day as the free duck ride, but I haven't ever gone there for it). There is no telling what kind of ID these people are going to want, but in the past I have usually been able to get a couple of others in with me on my ID. At Tommy Bartlett's Waterpark a local ID and $3 gets one into see the show (and they haven't always been too picky about ID from all, usually ID from one person can buy enough tickets for all). All of this requires being at the spot on the right day, as this is special for the locals prior to the big summer rush.
Another thing you might enjoy (I don't know ... you have written that you go to the Y, so perhaps you already have this available to you) ... there is a health club here with a really _hot_ hot tub. For non-members it is $10 per day for adults, $3 for children. The place has four pools, one of which is a kiddy pool with sprinklers. None of the waterparks have a hot tub which is more than lukewarm (due to legal restrictions because people under the age of fifteen are allowed in those; at the health club one has to be fifteen or older to use it)
If you don't mind camping, there are some places to camp which will help cut the expense for the Dells trip. I would invite you to camp here, but we really are overcrowded and are already using a second toilet made out of a bucket filled with wood chips (five adults, one of them pregnant and puking, in a one bathroom house). This place really is crowded, but I would love to visit with you and have you over for a couple of meals.
Please let me know when you coming; I really want to meet your family!
