went and signed lease and got keys in stormy conditions. Next door neighbor is complicated old friend. Possibly most complicated old friend ever. weird. there best not be drama. I assume we have all grown up past the dramas.

then, driving home in the rain, z went to run an errand, I tried to stop for some food, drove my van into a puddle as deep as my doors. Stopped my van cold. van may be dead. was trapped in van with scared kids and water coming in if I opened the doors. it was pretty much made of suck. Z came and towed us out, like, bodily. With the tow straps around his waist. Then called and had a truck bring my van home. did I mention suck. starting to dry out now. still hungry.

Holy shit on the van -- I have heard that if you dry them out they'll often work again OK, but I haven't tested this out personally. I'm just glad you didn't get swept off downriver never to be seen or heard from again.

I am, of course, vastly curious if this is one of the old friends I know, or not.

Right? because maybe she's grown past all the bullshit, and we'll be great neighbors. I've wound up good friends with other people I have a history of animosity and drama with, so I'm gonna hope for the best.
