Heh, an hour would probably kill me in that situation. I was reading something about... personal timeboxing? Mini timeboxing? the other day along these lines -- the idea that you do task x for a few minutes, then switch to another task for x minutes, b/c if you think to yourself, "I am going to study for an hour," your brain might well say, "NO NO NO I CAAAAAN'T." But it's easier to tell yourself that you can do something if it's just for 5 minutes. I think this strategy probably works better for some things than others (f'rex vocabulary words in a language you're learning or whatever) but still potentially useful! (Potential b/c I haven't really done it myself...)
But yeah, same principle (being able to stop & switch to something else). Just... shorter, heh.
Interesting. Five minutes, I don't think, would work for me. Not enough time to really settle in to the activity. I don't really get into the flow until at least fifteen minutes in to something.
