Also, seriously, why would I keep a transperson in my van? I was pretty sure that by specifying "in my van" it would be clear that i meant transmission, but everyone took it the other way.

you mean i'm not the only one to think that? thank god.

although.. i think it's the bit where you woke the transgirl's brother up later that confused the issue.

Well, we all figured it out eventually....

If I were in your shoes, I would be asking myself, "what is it that makes people pictures me as the sort of person who might be keeping a transgendered person in my van? Is it something about me, or is it something about my friends?" :g:

I thought it was some bizarre slang or past reference that slipped by me!

no, i woke the insomniacs brother up, but i see how that went there.

It has nothing to do with who you are and much more to do with the fact that no one I know calls a transmission that. I was only confused for a second.

[identity profile] chris462.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
... I knew what you meant. :P

Well, I read this entry before I got to that one in my friends feed, but OMG, having read this first I had a major laugh when I got to that point.

Also:

Also, seriously, why would I keep a transperson in my van?

I am hearing the voice of Chris Farley tagging "down by the river!" at the end of that.

Obviously, I need a nap.

probably this.

though i grew up with transmissions being called "trannies".

It makes no sense, I agree. But is hilarious nonetheless.

I want to make a Spider Jerusalem/Transmetropolitan joke here.

Maybe it's regional? or depends on how much time you spend with mechanics?

[identity profile] stoneself.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
i grew up around mechanics. no input on the regional part.

Everyone took it that way because they were all sleep-deprived! :-)

Actually, hope you get some sleep soon! Sleep deprivation is the pits.
