Clearly, with dark blue and aqua tied, you need to do blue and aqua stripes.

Same here, but I used a very similar color myself for a good while. :) And I have a bias toward solid.

I'm not on dreamwidth so I'll just comment here. I think Aqua streaked with purple would be incredibly cool. I wanted to do that a while back and it turned out to be against dress code at my job. Boo! I would love to live vicariously through your hair.
