OMFG

update on the last entry. She finally fell asleep at about quarter past 9. at 9:40 she rolled over, sat up, and was awake. I say, "ohmygod, it's sleepytime, kid" and she says, and I quote "Not anymore it ain't."

The last normal night of sleep was wednesday, I think. No, she kinda slept friday night, I think. I DON'T EVEN FUCKING KNOW ANYMORE.

WTF is this ridiculous bullshit, really. My kids have always been shit sleepers, but this in not acceptable. and i have no support network of the kin that can watch my kids while i get sleep anymore.

and the tranny in my van has gone shitballs, so I can't even get out of the house with my sleep deprivation. Friday when this happend, I just said fuck it, woke her brother up early and took them out doing stuff to keep her up til the next reasonable time to sleep.

I read this, and I got to the last paragraph and for a second I thought you were saying that you couldn't go out because an angry transgendered person was in your van and wouldn't let you use it.

As far as the insomniac kid, have you considered crate training? You could get one of those enormous crates they use for the really big dogs, and you could be all crafty and decorate it to look like a little house! And stick a mattress inside. And then lock her in it for the night while you get some damn sleep. It's not CIO once they're old enough to argue about bedtime.

I suppose for the benefit of your other readers I should specify that the part about the crate training was a joke.

Sort of.

The part about thinking you had a mentally unstable transgendered person in your van is not a joke. It's just embarrassing. I mean, you wouldn't say "the tranny has gone shitballs," in that case, you would say, "Eileen, who is living in our van while she tries to save up for her surgery, is off her meds or something."

thank you, now i am at least laughing til i cry over the whole tranny bit.

and if she couldn't climb out of a playpen by now, i would be doing CIO/crate training.

I've already drank a whole pot of coffee. that and the nosleep may be making poor eileen even funnier than she should be.

At this point I'm just gonna keep her up, obviously. The elder is still snoozed out, because he's recovering from saturday's sleepover action, but he'll be up any second now.

And this is why I suggested a dog crate! You can LOCK it. After painting it to look like a cutesy play house and putting a mattress inside, of course.

Fwiw, I also took it that way at first.

I totally had the same initial reaction, and then thought: "well, THAT doesn't make sense," and re-read.

How old is this kid?

Have you considered enrolling her in a sleep study?

Have you considered melatonin?

I have been very sporadic in my LJ usage lately (distracted, sick, etc.) so PLEASE forgive me if you've already talked about this.

She's 2.5. Both of my kids are relatively nocturnal, and I've always been latenight myself, but this recent not sleeping at all at night thing is brand new, and way beyond how she's ever been before. She took a really late nap on thursday afternoon, then stayed up til early friday afternoon, and just hasn't gotten back on schedule/loves fucking with me.
