I went through and defriended a lot of people who defriended me, though. That kind of stuff always makes me feel kinda sad. :(

Yeah I hate when folks defriend without saying why, but a lot of folks I know are cleaning out thier friend lists of places they don't comment much, so it's happening more often. You could always ask them why.

I think it might have been the celebrity photo collage things, rather a lot of them in a row! they were kind of awesome imho but that is likely the cause rather than some deep offense.

usersecret dot com. It's a place where people put your private business out in the open for the lulz. Like one woman I know was talking about her marriage problems and they capped the posts to make fun of her. They do things like find out your RL information if you confess something screwed up you did at work, and they call and tell your boss. People feel exposed, so they are pairing down their f-lists.

I didn't defriend you, but I often go through spurts of clearing out my friendslists, because it just gets to feel overwhelming at times. I don't give explanations to people, because it doesn't occur to me to--I'm mostly just a lurker on LJ at this point, and I don't particularly keep track of who friends or defriends me. this may or may not be the case of the people in question, just saying at least for me, doing that is rarely personal, it is a matter of managing a small and finite resource for me, that being how much time I want to spend on the computer at home.
