There's an Emma Bull book I was planning to read for years (War for the Oaks?) that...well, if I was really going to read it, I would've grabbed it ten years ago, I guess.
Autopope = Charles Stross (and his wife, Feorag, LJ name, don't know if it's her real name) is the originator of "malevolent little cunt."
Autopope is present in rozk's journal (he and his wife are in Britain).
(That post in TNH's journal where Feorag proclaimed how cunt is not in the least insulting in the UK has now been locked, according to Rydra's most recent linkspam).
Yeah, he's what inspired me to ask if anyone else has been waving they ass around without me noticing, I hadn't seen his bullshit until yesterday, and it got me wondering who else was below my radar.
Yes, Feorag is her real name. It's also her LJ username. I don't think she's an SF writer, just married to one. They live in Edinburgh.
Um, and name-calling does work differently in the UK than it does in the US, somewhat. I learned about that when married to a Brit. (He was much more bothered by my cussing, too.)

Yes, but "somewhat" is key. Calling someone a cunt is less derogatory in most UK contexts than in most US contexts, but it's still derogatory unless it's explicitly a teasing-between-friends context.
Thanks for clarifying that--I thought it was her real name although my first thought was that it was made-up (this was in the context of Kathryn Cramer's "all pseusd are evil," and I was wondering about this name I didn't recognize--then I googled it, learned it was from Irish mythology, and thought, aha, it could well be an Irish name and just because I don't recognize it doesn't mean it's not real!
Oh, I'm sure name-calling does work differently--but I don't believe that "cunt" is never misogynistic (and a number of Brits have weighed in to say it can be!).
For years, since I was an anglophile living in Idaho, I used "bloody" as a cussword and it never bothered anybody because they didn't know ('nice girls don't cuss' is how I was brought up).
When I went to England for study abroad, I used it out of habit and the shocked response taught me to watch my mouth!
Sorry, I should say that I missed most of those interactions except for the bit in rozk's that someone linked to. I should've figured that people had already thoroughly vetted exactly what C&F had said....

And yeah, Autopope was all over rozk's post about racefail the other day. That guy is horrible.
