Since I set this up way back when, it wouldn't hurt to post to it.
It's the first full day after Wiscon. Me and the five yr old had a blast, and both caught a bitch of a cold. come to think of it, a lot of people were sneezing and coughing by the last day. But it's worth the germiness. Just being around so many people for whom at least feminism is a given makes my weekend. And i got to chat a bit with Suzette Haden Elgin, whom I idolize in a near freakish manner, and I got to tell her that i named my son Hayden in her honor.
And it's funny how people you only see once a year can become old friends. And how quickly people can become new friends at something like this. I remarked to my husband that in a way Wiscon is like a Rainbow gathering, but with soda, electricity, plumbing and intellectual stimulation, in that everyone acts like old friends, even if they've never met before.
