it does make me uncomfortable that it was decided to use Juneteenth for the HK blog thing, because seriously, this day already has a thing, and it's a big thing. A really big thing. The kind you don't take attention away from. The kind you don't ignore.

I get that the Helen Keller thing was started by non usians, but it still bothers.

Is Juneteenth really that big a thing? Honestly, in my life, I've known of one Juneteenth commemoration, and it wasn't a historical thing in any sense. My sense is that it might be bigger in certain places, but it surely isn't here, and it's not like my city is lacking in blackfolk.

I'm starting to think it is maybe only a big deal in apparently texas and a couple cities in wisconsin. which makes negative sense, but for how many people regardless of race have not heard of it.
