The kids and I went down to the protest today. Once they were locking people out, I had to go raise hell. Thought about ninjaing it in through the tunnels, but that would have been a lot of work since we weren't there for the long haul. And since it looks like at least one of the tunnels may have been in use. I'm supposed to try not to get arrested with the children, although we thought maybe we'd have a better chance making a run in, since they don't want to arrest my kids.

So I was there when Walker announced the budget, but was busy hollering at the doors to be let in and didn't get the details of the numbers in the bill til a little while ago, and for all I stand by the statement that it's not about the budget cuts, it's about the unions, these budget cuts are fucking sickening. Half a Billion cut from Public Instruction. I can't even.

The kids started enthusiastic, Pobo liked the chanting and drums, obv, but they were cold and overwhelmed before too long, so we split earlier than I wanted. I've got the car for an appointment on thursday, so I figure after that we'll hit the protest again. It looks like there's going to be music and a bit more theatrics then, a Funeral Parade for Democracy? and we won't have to take the bus, so the kids should be down to stay longer. I wish I could put the chaos in my life on hold enough to be down there more.

But yeah, I'm not having time to stay caught up on everything online, so if I miss something big, let me know.

That's what we had heard as well, yeah, that he's using the newer tunnel to get his guys in. It's unconfirmed though, and some of his supporters who were applauding during the radio coverage of his speech were brought in through the king st entrance. I'm not hearing anything about his supporters showing up to counterprotest in the building, so I think they just brought in enough aboveground to have some applause filler.

I don't know if I could even find the older tunnel in anymore, but I bet scott walker can't either.

What is the "newer" tunnel you speak of?
I think there's only one tunnel, and it's not accessible to the public. It seems like it'd be a pain in the ass to get people in through the tunnel and make them walk that far - I'm assuming they just brought them into one of the doors that the protesters weren't standing in front of?

The one from the GEF building is the newer one, which I don't know shit about, but the older one is part of the heating system. For all I know there's actually only the one, and the GEF building is just an access point I didn't know about. I've never been in the tunnel sober.

But yeah, realistically it's that walker supporters were being let in the door on king.

Weird! The one I know about/have been in for my old job is not from one of the GEF buildings, and isn't part of the heating system.

I guess there are multiple tunnels!

FTR, I know nothing about the GEF tunnel, I've just heard it mentioned recently as an access point for the security tunnel. Not from anyone who would really know their shit
