I want mental illness pride icons. like, of famous but cool mentally ill people or characters, with like, 'not ashamed to be crazy' or something to that effect. I'm too tired to think of any such characters r make such icons, so this is like a note to myself to work on that, but if any of you have some hanging out, or ideas, lemme know.

Tracy Ulman and Winston Churchill are two that jump out at me. I'm having a hard time thinking of any characters that aren't in some way dodgy stereotypes :/

That was my other thought that celebrities with mental illness will be easier to find than positive mentally ill characters who don't come to a bad end

Stephen Fry did that whole miniseries about himself and other people who are bipolar, I saw that when it aired and thought he was the bee's knees for doing that.

Okay, if you're not a soap fan this might seem out there, but Maurice Benard who plays mobster boss Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital has bipolar and he convinced the show runners to let his character have the same condition and deal with it fairly responsibly on the show. They slowly built up the plot (like over a year instead of the 2-3 weeks they normally do on daytime soaps) and he had a few breakdowns and then he was finally convinced to seek help by a loved one who had done some research and he now responsibly takes his meds and talks openly about his condition. It's kinda cool. Not sure what you'd do with all of that info, but it was the first example that came to my mind.
