Mar. 5th, 2010 04:09 pmokay, so while trying to figure out what the deal is with my battery, because i got it to recognize the batt and it had an 80% charge, so the battery itself is okay, so I opened it up to see if it's a connection, etc etc. and it seems as though I may have finally broken this machine down to it's frame. some screw stripped out, which was holding the bottom part of the hinge down. so now you go to open or close it, and this hinge pops the whole fucking case partway open. If I put the other screw in to try to keep it from popping open, I'm going to actually break the plastic on the case.
also, the screen cord that goes through the other hinge? still pinch damaged as fuck, obviously, but in trying to find a place to run that cord without pinching it every time I open the machine, it kept threading it's way out the back of the hinge and is now even more hinky, and can get me that weird thing where my white all has a blue shadow, on top of the fact that all my black is red.
I am honest to god thinking about not signing up for a csa like we had planned, and blowing that money towards a new machine. but that's a pretty asshole move, literally taking food from my family so I have a fully functional computer

I have never come so close to punching someone's face through the back of their skull, if I were able, than I did tonight. I managed to count to ten and restrain myself from actual violence by the time I stood up, which I am thankful for because I really value the friendships around this person, but unfortunately it meant I let a grownup freak out on my kid for those extra ten seconds after I realized the guy was going too far. Like, I'm fine with my friends telling my kids they're out of line, and even getting upset over disrespect, but he got aggro, yelled and swore at HQ, ignoring my yelling at him to lay off until I stood up and got in between he and HQ. Then he and I got into it about my kid and my parenting, while I lay into him for how he addressed his problems with my kid, and yeah, it sucked. HQ was really shook up, and the kids are both upset because we were planning a slumber party with their kids, and I can't say for sure it's going to happen, much as I want it to.
I will admit my kid has some problems with being that guy who bitches and critiques shit with no concern for tact, and I'm trying to get him to understand that if you have problems with how someone runs their family/home, you either stop going there or suck it up and deal with their rules, and his response is still to complain how bored he is and how the food looks wrong or how all parents besides his do this or that all wrong, and a number of complaints about how this family runs it's household and how much chores his buddy has to do whie he's visiting, and whatever whenever he is at this guy's house, and it is obnoxious as fuck, but we're trying to deal with it, and y'know, just tell me not to bring my kid over anymore if you don't like his attitude, don't yell and swear at him like he's doing it out of deliberate disrespect rather than just lack of discretion.
none of this means he is miserable or has serious problems, it means he's an opinionated, rude 8 year old. 8. And I could have jumped back in with the way his kids have problems too, and how his parenting contributes there, but I didn't want to go there, I love his kids, even when they beat mine up.
I'm kinda wrecked, because I care a lot about their whole family, and thought that although he and I disagreed on some things, we were okay, and apparently he's really been holding a grudge about how my kid treats him, but he couldn't act like a grownup and talk about it without blowing the fuck up.
