Best Xmas Ever!
Dec. 27th, 2006 02:19 amSo, since my stepdad dumped me this year, and my friend who usually throws a big xmas eve shindig was too busy to do anything, we did christmas eve at our house this year. It was small, simple, and drunken. We made a fuckton of cookies, and both the grandmas came over for giftorama in the late afternoon. right about when HQ and Moji finished opening their cack, HQ's best friend, and his dad who is one of our best friends, came by. We all snuck drinks so MIL wouldn't know there was rum in the house, get wasted and irritate everyone. My mom did shots in the kitchen, and decided our friend was one of her kids now.
Then the grandmas went home, and the boys played one of the new video games. Z and our friend got back from driving the grams home, and we got nice and drunk and played spongebob monopoly til about 2:30 in the morning. We tried to start a new tradition of pie at midnight, but hq didn't care for it. I think Z wound yo eating the whole fucking pie, other than hq's slice which i ate, and the crumbly top, which our friend ate.
HQ got SO MUCH STUFF. Tinkertoys, legos, video games, paints,a robot guy, K'nex, action figures, like 15 cars, an etchasketch, I could go on and on. He probably had close to 40 presents between us, the grandmas, and his honorary aunt who brought like 15 presents. And, of course, the kickass telescope his great grandma sent.
Moji did pretty good for a 4 month old, she got a bear, a monkey, a baby, a pink elephant blankie buddy from her brother, 4 outfits, many new teethers, blocks, and a stacker.
I got glade plug ins, one of which smells like my paternal grandmas house, scented candles, a tube scarf/cowl/hood thing, chocolate, 4 calendars, (Z also got 2 of those, as did hq, wtf does my mother in law think we will do with 8 calendars?) and from the kids, i got a stone heart from hq, and moji got me a goddess pendant, hematite ring, and a wooden cat.
Z got chocolate, the aforementioned calendars, and the xbox game he wanted from the kids.
I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff, but whatever, it was GOOD. There was no stress because i didn't have to rush to my stepdad's, hoping the nieces will at least pretend to like what I got them, no big party to go to, (i like parties, but it's always weird trying to deal with hq at them.)
Then xmas day, we opened the gifts from each other, and just hung out and played all day. I made tuna casserole for hq and me, and brocolli spinach casserole for Z, since he's still a good vegetarian, and all our other meals were cookies or pie.
For a week before, HQ kept saying "Isn't this going to be the best christmas EVER?" and he was right, it was.
From now on, we do christmas eve at home. that way the kids are in their element and can start playing with their swag right away, and i can relax.
