I can technically assess my own acceptable risk parameters. I do not need a firm talking to to tell me not to talk to the mean dangerous man. I occasionally enjoy the pointless maddening arguing with troll types that I learned on usenet. I do not believe anyone I was recently interacting with to be any more dangerous than other people I have gotten into it with in the past.
I appreciate the concern and the warnings, but I can decide when to disengage on my own. this is not my first rodeo.

Date: 2010-06-09 01:57 pm (UTC)I missed Usetnet (I had to leave my apa when I was doing my dissertation for multiple reasons, then I got hired in 1993 and the first few years in a tenure track position blurred liek whoa--I remember one of my friend's husbands going onto the earliest version of the 'net and thinking vaguely, wow, I wish I'd had that when I was in the apa), but I didn't come back in until 2003. So I love hearing about those earlier sf fancarnations.
