so, I dyed my hair, (all 2 sq inches of it) with a cheap drugstore red, and it didn't come out half bright enough. I still have plnty ofdye, so I was thinking of just slapping anouther treatment on it, frying it, I know, and see if it lightens/brightens it like a motherfucker. I don't really care what color it turns out, I'd just rather my hair not actually fall out.

So, should I take advantage of it's chemically weakened state to get a brighter color, or will I end up bald? I'd have posted this to like "hairdye" orsomething, but I don't have time to find such a place.

I wouldn't risk it. You could end up with a head of straw (if you are lucky) depending on the stregth of the proxide in the kit. Might be best to pamper your hair for a few weeks or so until the color fades (conditioners, good diet vitimen wize, etc...) and then bleach your hair out before you ad the red. Red is hard that way. Best for that color to splurge for the good stuff.

If it's not a bleach type hair color, you could do it again without worry. You only need to worry when there are harsh chemicals that "lift" the hair color off of your hair. If it's an amonia containing permanent color, you could do it again, but you might want to wait. It also depends what state your hair is to begin with. If it's damaged, it would be good not to chemically treat it again so soon.

Good luck.

I forgot to say that my mother is a licensed cosmetologist and this is her advice.

I've bleached mine 3 times in a row probably for at least a couple of hours over one day - many times in the last 10 years - and it's never fallen out yet. At worst, it gets a little straw-feeling in consistency, but that's okay. It might matter that I have kind of thick strong wavy hair.

At beauty supply store they sell the developer and the bleach powder separately, which is cheaper and which means I can mix up a small batch to re-bleach the roots without blowing 10 bucks or whatever on a whole "kit" .

I'm fine with it getting dried out or whatever,I hate it soft. I just mixed as much as I needed out of the drugstore dye, I can't get my ass to eh beauty supply lately. If I could, I'd have gotten amuch more interesting color than red. but yeah, I don't have remotely enough hairto justify the whole stupid kit.
