This comes at a good time, I guess. It's 5:30 in the morning, and I'm still shaking off the adrenaline rush of having to disobey this particular set of social rules more forcefully than I've pretty much ever had to do before. And do it in my third language. (Best part: after nearly ten minutes of variations on "Sir, neither of us is interested. In ANYTHING. We are going HOME. And no, NOT with you," he finally stopped blocking the path/following us. At which point the acquaintance I was out with - the woman who I gave up my taxi to walk with after it became clear he was still interested in continuing to harass her even if I left - this woman turned to me and said, "You know, not every man is automatically dangerous just because he says hello to you on the street.")
That was a good few hours ago. But reading this has, I think, finally pushed me past freaked-out back into pissed-off... and that means I may be able to sleep.
