I postd a link to that letter from Alice Walker on a feminist board I post at, thinking it'd be good for discussion, and no one there apparently wants to talk about it. It's shown up on my flist like 7 times today, but I don't think I've seen it in any feminist spaces. Is it me, or is that weird?

It's probably me.

Funny how white people are so eager to selectively take people's words, right?

I forwarded it to a few friends, but didn't repost it 'cause I've got a few staunch contrarians on my f-list.

Michelle loved it and posted it on her blog, though.

I think it might be that a lot of feminists have been yelling that women should vote for HRC because She Be Woman, but get upset when black people even appear they might be voting for the black guy. A lot of feminists can't see past their own oppression.

Yeah, they're talking about it now, and a lot of what is being said is, in short, "but white women are oppressed too!" and "It's sad that some white women acted as oppressors, yeah, but look! black men could vote first"

But interspersed with that is some balanced, thoughtful discussion, so yay!

Is that the piece by her titled:
Lest We Forget: An Open Letter to My Sisters Who Are Brave

I posted that on the WiP list tonight. No comments back yet, tho.

How are you and the babies doing? Long time, no talk.

oops, I just saw your next entry where you have posted it. As I wrote on the WiP list, I got tingly when I read that! It is very powerful!
