why I don't particpate in chats and shit in gaming.

Last night in my alliance chat in the stupid game, someone completely randomly dropped an anti-gay statement. not even your typical gamer "oh yer so ghey" bullshit, but a proper bitching about gays. and oddly enough, I felt the need to say something before the like chat maintainer got to it. Al I said was /looks at you , and wtf. and he started in with a helping of special rights and aanti-marraige bs.and I'm all "so wtf does it matter to you is others marry?" and then it turned out I was oversensitive and hostile. The maintainer was all "Guys, stop, you'll never agree so just drop it" and I was like, Um, no. I'll leave my allaince bfore i drop this shit, bcause i don't want to be "allied" with someone who hates me, thnx.

and the maintainer kept insisting I was the hostile one, even though the other guy dropped the F bomb, and when I referred to myself as a bi-dyke, she called me offensive. And brought up the fact that last week n the chat, when I mentioned that a singer was feminist and like 4 people started telling me all their problems with feminists and "feminazis" I got "hostile" and things got ugly. So she was worried that if we argued about the gay slur thing it'd get that ugly again. And you know what, fuck that, it was ugly as soon as that motherfucker typed that first line.

So, I might drop out of my allianc because of one assbag homophobe and an alliance leader whoo doesn't like my tone. I'm either gonna play unallied, keep bitching, or start my own queer friendly alliance. Of course, a quer friendly alliance on this game wwill be, like, me. . and I enjoy th damn game itself.

My friends are all in a queer-friendly guild on WoW, actually. Only one of them is anything other than straight, but the rest are allies and they all appreciate the blissful homophobia-free zone.

Whatever game you're playing, you can find a better guild than that. I've found cool people to play with in SWG and WoW and Guild Wars and etc., over the years.

it's a smallish game, so i dunno if i'll find a non asshole alliance, and it's late in the rnd to change alliances. I'm gonna shop around for a queer friendly one for next round though. or start my own.

I was in a guild in DAoC once where I had no indication at all that they were anything but fairly normal individuals. All of a sudden, the GL went on this tirade about "they gays" and how "they gays" were the reason that Rome fell, Greece Fell and if we don't watch it, America will fall too because "the gays" were going to be the end of our society.

I tried logic, I tried rationale, I tried facts. Nothing worked.

I wasn't in that guild much longer.

What was crazy is none of the other guild members knew he was like that. It was completely out of the blue. There was a mass exodus until he decided to pass the guild on to someone else because clearly "we were all stupid".
