I don't understand Don at all. Why does he sleep around? I don't see the need, whatsoever.

I think he's actually as upset with his role in the world as Betty is with hers, but he has no way of showing it, and he has too developed a sense of responsibility to go do something else with his life. Too many daddy issues. And also too much ease to dive back into the world of being a single man, and too many societal pressures to stay with his family. He may love Betty, and I'm certain he loves his children, but he doesn't love the life they've made together.

That's my theory, anyway.
