ack. neil gaiman has addressed me directly due to my linking stuff about Amanda Palmer. the pope and the slayer handled it while I slept, but jeebus. kinda called out by neil. I may burst into flame

...the pope and the slayer? Ignore, I actually looked, I get you now. *hugs* Yikes. It is scary when they actually answer.

Of all the things you could have on your side, the pope and the slayer rank pretty high on the list!

What? He's not going into "how dare you link stuff that is freely available on the internet for commentary and critique" is he?

naw, he's being totally reasonable, don't worry. I had posted a link about wat's been going down in afp's comment section, and he took exception to the idea she is responsible for her fans comments, which really neither I nor the writer of the post were really saying. But it got all cleared up.

linkplz?

I'd actually find it entirely too fun to argue with someone OMGFAMOUS over this. But then, I'm evil.

it's all in twitter, where you can't actually follow a conversation. and it's really not an argument, thankfully, because I could not argue with neil effectively. I would wibble a lot. I could and can argue with other kinda famous people, but ACK.neil

I missed the Sandman bandwagon, so while everything I've heard about him that isn't this has seemed very cool, I don't have the same OHGODHOWCOULDISAYSHITTONEIIIIIIIIIIIIL thing.

And can you link me to his tweet, anyway?

See I thought he was kinda snarky in the first one, but that could just be me. (And he thought you'd written the post & not just linked to it, silly man.) Did you read it as snarky?

he seemed much better after a sleep. Also engaged pretty well w/popelizbet.

yeah, he started snarky, but once information was made clear, he was cool

Ha, so at Boskone last weekend there was a joint panel teleconference thingy with the Chicago con going on the same weekend. We had Charlie Stross and Alistair Reynolds, they had Gene Freakin' Wolfe and Robert Sawyer. Oh Gene, I don't even know what was going on, but he said some incredibly problematic stuff, both about how SF readers were mostly men, and then some stupid weird racist stuff later on. Both times Stross just gently corrected his factual errors and then moved the conversation in a different direction. Afterward I went up to him and said something about thanking him for holding the line against Wolfe's inaccuracies, and he and Reynolds were like "You know, we can't directly say anything against him because (bowing motions) but yeah."

This feels sort of similar, but not directly. You know. :)
