while my net access lasts, I will post about the kids. Pobo has become computer literate in the last 4 days. Also, kinda literate literate, playing spelling and reading games on pbskids.org, and figuring out how to spell things on her own when, say, naming characters in the games. She just named a superhero "elazabeth" and only asked me for help with 3 letters in it.
They've both been playing the games in the gcompris suite while our net is sketchy, and HQ has been alternating between helping his sister, and playing the more complicated levels and such. The only suck thing is there is one computer that they can share, because mine is WAY too busted for either of them, since if you bump it it falls apart, so they are fighting over hq's computer, which they nominally share, full fucking time now.
I try not to compare him to other kids, but when he hangs out with his bff who is a grade ahead of him and in "real" school, I can not help but notice the ways HQ is ahead of him. and how often HQ has to correct really erroneous information from him. or do the reading for them if there is reading to be done, instructions or walkthroughs or whatever.
also, my house smells like cornmeal.
