1: what should I fucking do with my hair. I don't want to cut off the length up front, but it is boring me right now. I have blonde and red chemical dyes, and some weak ass purple dye that might work over the blond. I was thinking about just splashing some blond streaks into it and then seeing how the purple takes on it. I really want hair like tommy ratcliff.

2: serious question. Would you rather do work you love 55 hours a week and have no real free time, or do work you do not enjoy for 40 hours a week and having those 15 hours to do whatever you do like in? Assume the wage works out the same, that it takes 55 hours at job you love to make the money that mediocre no fun job would give you in 40. And by "love" I mean come home excitedly talking about this cool thing that plays into your interests that you got to do today, and really feeling you are the fucking best at what you do.

and by "not enjoy" I mean it is one of those just a job jobs

3, and my biggest ragiest, the fucking landlord for this place we wanted, just called to tell me he's giving the place to someone else, and when I asked why, he said it was because I don't work, and the other applicant had multiple working adults. We had the first application in, and we qualified, our references came up great, he just picked the other people because I am "unemployed" so he wasn't sure that if Z lost his job we could pay rent. We have fucking unemployment insurance, or fuck's sake, so if Z lost his job dude would still get paid. This time I am sure that being a stay at home parent is being held against me. wtf. I am literally angry with rage

I'd rather do 55 hours a week at a job I adored. I know this because I actually do the 40 hours a week doing something I do not enjoy, and I find it saps the life out of me and when I get home I hardly want to do anything else anyway, so those extra 15 hours a week are mostly spent doing nothing anyway.

Also that sucks about the place(s) you wanted; I'm sorry they're being asshats about the stay-at-home thing.

That holding your stay-at-home parenting against you fills me with rage, WTF LANDLORDS. That is so bullshit.

Personally I'd rather do the 55-hr job, because if I'm going to spent the majority of my time doing something I want to love it. However there have been times in my life where I've just wanted something steady and not too stressful, and in that headspace I think I'd rather have the 40 hour job, so long as I didn't hate it.

That is fucked up about the landlord!!

I've never had a job that I uncomplicatedly loved, but I've had a challenging job that was interesting & dealing w/stuff I found important. I had a lot of imposter syndrome around it.

I've also had lots of just a job jobs. I think at this point I would rather have the extra free time. But I've never had quite the scenario you describe, so I don't know.

That should not be legal, ffs.

Anyway, 55 hour job--rather do what I enjoy, definitely. Having done the strictly-40 with a dull job, you never do end up USING those 15 hours.

It isn't legal, FFS -- not under state law, or city ordinance. But complaining takes a lot of energy and money. Big Fat Shitty Pile o' Turds.

I'd rather have that purported 55 hour job...and find a way to make it not be 55 hours :). Kind of like what I do now with my teaching job. Lots of teachers stay after school every day. I only need to occasionally, due to my good time management.

I'm doing the 55 hr job plus a ten hr shift on saturdays and it is kicking my ass. I keep trying and failing to make my job a 40hr a week job.

1. I'd rather work my butt off at a job that excited me than have time to spare at a job that sucked. I'm currently in a job that gives me ample time to do other things, but those 40 hours last forever. And it doesn't turn out to be just 40, because there is the getting ready time, the commute time, the lunchbreak in the middle of the day that doesn't quiiiiite give me enough time to get stuff done, but I don't get paid for. And the annoyance of my job follows me around. So definitely longer hours and less pay for a job about which I am passionate.

3. Have you contacted the Tenant Resource Center?

You might have a complaint against the landlord for refusing to rent to children. That is a qualifiable reason to claim discrimination. You could probably frame it in that way, somehow, and contact the

If I could work 55 hours without having a nervous breakdown I would definitely go with the job I loved. 40-hour jobs that mean nothing just wear one down. The weekends aren't useful because Saturday is recovery and Sunday is dread. I'd much rather be excited but a bit tireder most days than stuck in a grind day in and day out.

Might be worthwhile to look up a tenant union in response to the landlord screwing you over. There may be ways to make him uncomfortable even if you don't take him all the way to court.
