it's the heathen getting clubbed in the face with a driver, full force, by the strong little neighbor kid who hadn't yet gotten that "check your backswing" thing down.

He's okay, bruised to hell, but oh my lord, that sickening noise when the golf club made contact. I was putting Moji in the swing, so I didn't see it happen, just heard it. "thwunk" "AAAAAAAAAIIIIGHHHH!!" and turned to see him kneeling grabbing his head and screaming.

Left poor Moji half strapped into the swing while I dove for him, assessed the damage, adjusted my level of freakout from "call 911" to "get an icepack" and have been on comforting and concussion watch since.

The poor neighbor boy felt so bad, he was crying too, and his mom came and felt horrible and ran concussion checks too, and it sucked.

But, he is totally fine, growing a hell of a shiner even with the icepacks, having minor pain, but much much better.


Yeah, my anxiety had been pretty good the last few days, and then HQ lives up to the "Headwound" nickname again. The neighbor kids stick to plastic clubs from now fucking on.

My baby brother had the exact same thing happen to him when he was about 8. Exact same as in it split his eyebrow and he has to get stitches. He now has cool scarring a la Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Here's hoping HQ is okay.

Yeah, I hope he's all right and feels better soon. I did that to my dog when I was 8 or 9. I never felt so horrible in my life.
