It's the RvW anniversary, and so far, hey, we've kept that right. For now.

Here's my blog for choice. I had an abortion 13 years ago. I'm not going to justify it, because that would defeat the whole Choice thing, if I start playing "My reasons are good enough." But I had one, and although it was in no way easy, and I would not do it again, I do not and will not regret it.

If you are on my list, and this changes how you think of me, feel free to tell me so I know who is quietly judging me, and I'll know where we're at.

I think that's the best blog for choice post I've read today. Thank you.

Thanks. My like, peeve within the abortion debate is the whole "I'm pro choice, as long as they aren't using it as birth control, having more than one, underage" or whatever other standard they throw on. To me, prochoice means actually respecting women's choices, and assuming that whatever reason they made that choice, were good enough for them so none of my business.

"My reasons are good enough" is probably the most empowering and straight up phrase I've ever heard about it.

Yeah, it's when it gets twisted into "My reasons were good enough, but someone else's weren't" that my head explodes.

Yeah, well, I just kinda extrapolated it into- "Everyone's reasons are good enough" as in, "reason" being, because they choose to and that's reason enough to respect it or STFU.

That works by me.

That doesn't change a thing for me.

As someone who made a point of letting LJ-Land know she was pro-life today, I feel like I should pipe up and say no, it doesn't change how I think of you, and I am not quietly judging you.

I admit, I am curious how you can be against my right to have had an abortion, think it is wrong, without judging me for having done so, but I would rather this not turn into a huge argument.

No, I don't want a huge argument either. *shrug* "Judge not, lest ye be judged," right? Everyone does things I don't agree with. *I* do things I don't agree with. If I let it change my opinion of everyone in my life, I don't think I'd have anyone left.

Fair enough. I do have to ask, are you pro-life in the sense you'd like abortion to be illegal, or in some subtler way of just not agreeing with it?

Again, I don't want to start a fight, and I'm only telling you because you asked. So! I am pro-life in the sense that I would like for it to be illegal.

uh, okay. there is nothing else I could say here that wouldn't turn this into the argument we're trying to avoid.

I'm not judging you. I am pro-choice, and "your reasons are good enough" is good enough for me.
