My grandmother on my dad's side is going fast. I should go up tomorrow and say my goodbyes. It's four hours each way, and I cant decide whether to drag the kids with, or leave them in town with Z. I'd love for her to see the kids before she goes, but I don't want them to remember her as a sick dying woman in hospital, y'know? But I've not been away from sinbad for that long, (10-12 hours) ever, and I just don't fucking know what to do. It'll be more pleasant for them if i go without them, I guess. OTOH, if we all go, they'd get to meet some of my cousins' kids. Oh, and there's all this drama among some of the rest of myy family up there that I want NOTHING to do with.


My other option is to curl up and cry for a couple days, until I get the call that she's gone and it's too late.

She's my last surviving grandma, and I haven't seen her in five years now.

I'd go, and leave the kids. They are not the ones who have a relationship with her, but you are. Also, it gives you time to deal with your emotions without having to take care of them, too.

I know it's hard to leave Sinbad, but sometimes shit happens, and she'll be fine with Z. No one will die.

If you want to have your kids meet the cousins, there will always be the option of a funeral.
