so, upon hearing that live joan osborne action yesterday, I got to talking to Z, saying that her not having had another big ass hit like the damn one of us song made me feel pretty confident that the albums she's released since are probably non suck. and he brought up that it's the exact opposite of the jewel problem, where Jewel's one big fucking early hit implied she could be a talented force to reckon with, but then she sucked, whereas, Joan's one big early hit would make you think she sucked donkey butt, but if you took the time to listen to the rest of her stuff, she fucking owned. and that if they had traded big hits, it would be more representative of what they were actually doing.

It was just some pretty subtle analysis of chick music from Z, that basically, Joan is the anti-jewel. The moment he started to bring up Jewel in a discussion of my second favorite Joan, though, I was ready to take his head off. Luckily, he was not going to try to compare Jewel to anything that didn't suck.



btw, yeah, i drank some bourbon tonight and started linking shit all over the facebook.

i went and read the open letter thread at feministing. apparently I needed more asshole in my day. I went snarky, people need to fuck off and quit fucking defending ablist language on a fucking feminist site.
