Don't need to since I could never be bothered with that site which oozed class privilege from the gitgo, and never sat well with this small family farm farmer's daughter.
Well, I've always had a lot of trouble with much of feminism that doesn't recognize just how many women on this globe are engaged in agricultural work -- and most feminisms don't appear to get that.
But then, agriculture and farmers-peasants were targeted as prime enemies of the stalinist state, since their work is organized so differently from the industrial, urban laborer, that communism targeted as its beneficiary and its means of accomplishing communism's goals.
Thus, now, we have industrialized agriculture with all that poisoning of the environment plus many other evils.
yeah, its not as though i have been a regular reader and therefore the boycott is a big change, either, but if someone isnt awarre of the looming faileyness, they deserved a heads up, kwm
Is there a *good* feminist site or 3 that you'd recommend? It seems all the ones I know of are faily in some way--here on LJ, Pam's House Blend, Pandagon...
No, because feminism is a rotten movement oriented toward meeting the needs of otherwise-privileged women. The fact that these blogs are "faily" is a reflection of that reality.
Also, i feel like you ask this question whenever any critique of a "major" feminist blog comes up.
It seems to me like a defensive "well sure it's bad, but what else is there?" with an implied "i will keep reading these blogs (unless maybe you provide me with alternatives that i find relevant to my specific interests)", especially when taken in the context of your asking the question frequently in response to these kinds of posts.
It seems to me you read a lot into a short question. Also, it seems odd to me that you concern yourself with me at all. It's not like we're friends or I'm famous.
lol bitch please, you make annoying comments, people will notice and respond to them. when has "you don't even know me!" ever been a valid defense for that?
It's not a defense, it's a question. Why do you care enough about me to remember my comments and respond to them? Would it matter to you if I continued to read feministing or joined the boycott either way? I certainly don't think about you or remember things you said elsewhere, other than having a general impression of you as a perennial shit-stirrer and drama-lover from when you were on Tori's flist.
the only feminist site i still read, in the sense of feminism being the main concern of the site anymore is shakes. they seem, so far, to get intersectionality. otherwise, I have pretty much given up on most things that call themselves feminist
It's not a good sign when I'm relieved that this is based on a fuckup I've heard about, and not -yet another- one out the box. And I'm glad that post points out that this is some ongoing, bullshit on several levels.
Femsting has a long history of being for the advancement of the women who need it least, at the expense of the women who need it most. I think they are the HRC of feminism, honestly.
None of that takes away from the fact that feminism is pretty much a total loss unless your skin, your genitalia at birth, and your bank book look like those of feminism's founders.
eah, i have been boycotting them since the shit ou linked went down, so this is just a signal boost that the fail has continued and that there are even more reasons to avoid their asses

Femsting just happens to be particularly nasty about it.
