It seems like the only way to turn it off is to never sign up. I can't find a straight up "remove even the option of this vile thing from my account" button. Argh.
Thank you for this post; I have now tightened my privacy settings. I rarely come on lj anymore, do most of my postings on fb -- and they are a very different type of posting (no emo). I really, really do not want _any_ of my emo stuff from lj to end up being read by my fb friends!
Oh, and what is your fb name? I would like to join you there, and do a friending ... if you are agreeable to such.
