question for the locals

Some friend of my mother, the most reliable info source in town, claims that they don't even make you parallel park when you take your test at the East dmv in particular. Anyone know anything like this? I'm taking my test tuesday, and i fail at parallel parking ftmp. I'm getting better, but I suck, straight up. So, if you or someone you know took their test in the last couple years, tell me what's up.

I took my driver's test in Green Bay, not Madison, and it was 5 years ago, but I didn't have to parallel park on my test, while some of my friends did. I think that, like most things on the driving exam, it depends on who's giving it. Good luck!

I took my test in Madison but it was a while ago. At the time, it was OK if you weren't particularly good at parallel parking if you nailed everything else. I failed the first time I tested because I forgot to look over my shoulder to check my blind spots, both when I was doing the y-turn and when I was parallel parking.

My parents were very eager for me to have my damn license already (I was 17 and had dawdled on the process for over a year by then) so my father took me back the next week (I had no appointment) and we waited for a cancellation. All day. There were no cancellations, but at the very end of the day the tester felt sorry for me and took me out anyway.

When we got back to the DMV, all the cars out front were gone. So no parallel parking!

I still suck at it. I can do it, but not consistently, especially when I'm driving a minivan.

I took my test about five or six years ago at the East DMV. I had to do a "hill" park (which was parallel and which I failed by turning the wheels the wrong way) but I didn't have to parallel park in terms of making it safely between two cars on either side.
