shit. got home from rocking potluck at [livejournal.com profile] ansai's house, (on the way home from which I discovered that on the new meds, 2/3 of a beer makes me drunkly,) to find hat this flood has invaded our basement. yeah, our nice dry basement full of drums, guitars, recording gear, Z's computer, a ton of clothes, etc etc, has a nice big swamp, basically. Carpet is ruined. Most of our clothes are ruined. Z is buying a shopvac that we can't exactly afford right now in hopes of removing the water before anything else is destroyed.

fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck.

I don't want to think about how much money has been ruined if the drums are fucked. We can't replace them, that's for sure, so the kids will be drumless.
It took years to accumulate all that gear at our budget. fuckity

Oh no!! I hope you all manage to salvage some stuff. That sucks.

(Also, I have the same effect w/meds, where it makes my pathetic tolerance even lower. Hey, I'm a cheap date!)

I hope you can salvage much of it--oh that sucks!

We just had a basement flood as well but no major losses, thankfully.

No homeowner's or renter's insurance, I take it?

no, because the actual value, like what we paid for it all, is minimal We keep saying maybe we should get renters insurance, but failed to do so in time.

damn, that really sucks.

our insurance (state farm) covers replacement cost, rather than investment cost.

good luck sorting everything out. :(

Oh NO! I'm cringing over here. I hope that your drums and guitars are OK! Good luck drying stuff out.

Have you already bought the shopvac? Because I have one (or, rather, the Boy has one) that I could lend you. I know we don't know each other except on the internet but I am in Madison and I can transport it to you if needed.

thanks, but too late. he was literally buying it right when I posted, and is now vaccing up the water in the window wells, getting ready to block them off.

Our basement flooded, too, :[ (And guess which roommate abandoned me to shop-vac by myself?!)

I really hope it stops raining.

I hope that you were able to salvage things. We are feeling very lucky -- the house we spent six months trying to buy is right behind where the Lake Delton dam went down. We are high and dry, and feeling very fortunate as we are surrounded by severe flooding and evacuations.

I knew you were right near that area, and had been thinking of you during this flooding, am glad to hear you didn't flood out.
