I really like James' music. What's funny is how different it is now than when he started (with Ghost of the Robot). I have the GotR CD (if you want it) and his first album Civilized Man (both from other fans, as you can't buy them except at outrageous prices on ebay. His third album Like a Waterfall I got from him (his website).
But he's got somewhat diverse tastes. He seems to like the stripped down sound of voice, guitar, and maybe piano, which appeals to me. And he's very singer/songwriterish. Lots of songs about girls that done him wrong (or right). And a helluva blues growl.
He also does a thing where he straddles the line between a sort of sweet romanticism and a raunchiness that's pretty hot (and which he often sings with a nod and a wink).
I love the PSIloveyou performances (there are a few others from that set on Youtube. He's just so laid back in them--very intimate and sweet.
