well, Alan Ball is certainly going with the "Magical Negro/Medicine man" trope as hard as he fucking can, isn't he?

Yay for developing these characters, because I LOVE laffy and jesus, sfm, but shit, is there any way that's gonna turn out well?


And like, I try to some degree to turn off critical thinking and enjoy a show for it's camp value, but I can only ignore so much.

I was unfortunately not giving the show my full attention but uh... yeah

it looked really stereotypical and insulting as hell. Jason and Amy get to fuck in rain drenched meadows but Lafayette and Jesus get to ~go back to their roots~

yes he is. it was pretty apparent to me when he knew the perfect inuit song/prayer to quote over sookeh in the hospital just a week after the orishas scene.

and yeah there is no way that will turn out well.
